January CURRENTLY and my One Little Word for 2014!
Cheers teacher friends! I hope you had a wonderful holiday and I wish you a happy New Year 2014. I love participating in Farley's monthly currently. Here is what I am up to right now:
The friends thing is hard! I also live in a small town and pretty much have the same friends as I did growing up, but they are all getting married or have moved away, which makes just hanging out pretty tough! Hang in there! Happy New Year! Found your blog through Currently and I am your newest follower. Would love for you to head over and check out my blog! Missy TheAdventuresofAClassyTeacher
I'd be happy to give you my tips. When I first moved here I made a couple friends within the district. It was nice, but of course I felt the same way you did. Without thinking I'd make friends, I just wanted to do it because of my interested...I signed up for Meetup.com online. I found a book club group and a photography club nearby that I joined. I actually made 2 of my good friends today through those groups. Then, came Bunco. One of the friends I made through my book club invited me to it and I made several more friends that way. I'm really glad to have a nice group of friends who aren't teachers, but I have a couple close teacher friends too...one being my bestie who I team taught with for 3 years. :-)
Thank you for sharing what has worked for you. I need all ideas. I tried meet up.com and found some really weird groups meeting near me. Not too sure about the snuggle club and furry club. Oh sheesh! I will look again. The towns where I live are quite spread out and with commuting to work I really want a local friend. Send good friend making thoughts my way. I will keep you posted on the journey. Love when you comment!
HI! I love your blog! From your blog, you look like a very creative and fun person. I know I have joined bunco groups, book clubs, exercise classes all where I have made friends. It sounds like you have a nice relationship with your mom - that's great! Well, I wish you much luck in the new year. I am your newest like!
